The deep blue yonder...this is why I'm here
The past 2 tourists to the island
has made me realize,
I miss the ocean...
When I was just a little girl....da da da
I used to love the ocean
whenever we would go back to my moms home town,
I would always want to go to the beach
Port dickson, Pangkor, Penang, Langkawi, Johor Bharu beach that borders singapore (yuck!)
But, since I moved to Hawaii....
I rarely go to the beach
and it's 5 minutes away
I think its the fact that its so close
and its always there
that one takes it for granted.
that one grows immune to its beauty.
Then one day,
you decide to go to the beach,
take a dip
and then
you find that kid inside
that once upon a time
swam so much that her dark, dark hair
turned blonde at the ends...
and you realize,
that a person born under a water sign,
will always love the water

Riddle me this
but when you hear me,
you understand me
you hear my pain
you feel my joy
through me, you understand what others are trying to say
through me, you listen to what others have to say...
I am....

Love at first sniff...
A persons natural scent is biochemical bouquet as unique as a fingerprint it broadcasts all sort of information about our genetic makeup.
For years, research has been done on the genes that governs the major histocompatibility complex(MHC), a component of the immune system.
Mating with a person whose MHC varies notably from one's own is biologically ideal, providing offsprings with a stronger immune system.
When geneticist, Carole Ober of University of Chicago studied a small South Dakota religious community of Hutterites, and who, happens to avoid all scented products, found striking results.
Women were far more likely to marry men with substantially different MHC genes, indicating that something like chemical signals reflected in the body odor, helped dictate those choices.
The study also showed that couples with similar MHC's were more likely to suffer miscarriages...(hmm.....)
So, we will pick people with a differnt MHC as our own
And we can tell just by sniffing and unconsciously,
our brain detects these genetic makeups
that tells our minds, yes, we are, or no we're not, attracted to this person....
another fun fact,
apparently the smell of men, can help a women relax...
so next time you feel stressed girls, you know what to do....sniff...sniff...
oh, and they regulate mood and hormones too...
Interesting.....

Riddle me this....
dreary and dark
I am without direction
floating around where the wind takes me
I have palpitations
uneven beats which quicken and slows without warning
I am lost
like a blind folded swallow
I am hollow
like the black hole, like a porcelain doll
I am vulnerable
What Am I?
The 5 stages of grief...
whether it was on House M.D. or some other series
The 5 stages of grief.....
there's denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance
They said, that people don't have to go through all 5 stages,
neither do they have to go through the stages in sequence
this is just a regular pattern that people come across at some point in their lives.
or maybe, they are some who will never have to
Recently, I have been thinking a lot about these 5 stages
5 stages that one goes through,
when someone dies
when u are about to die
when u lose something dear
so long as there is grief involved....
there will be the words
1. denial
2. anger
3. bargaining
4. depression
5. acceptance
I'm no authority on these emotions
but I do understand it
I have definitely been in denial
been angry,
bargained with myself and perhaps even, the entity out there
may go into depression
and no matter what, still have to accept
acceptance is not an absolution
its just a fact
something that sneaks up and slaps you silly

FOR THE REALTORS
the owner (or realtor) of the house has to....
get a red envelope (ang pao)
place in a piece of metal from the kitchen (nails???)
earth from the garden (flower pot, garden...)
some wood from the skirting board (chipped wood.....from floor board)
throw the envelope into a fast moving river (er.....manoa stream??)
Being Jack....
It's about being....the jack in the box
people always tell you - think outside the box
How can one think outside the box, when all they know is the inside of the box?
the 4" by 4", 64 cubic inches that keeps them in
there is fear
fear of what outside the box
what if, whats outside the box is bad
like waking up from the matrix and realizing that it's worst in reality than in the dream
but what if, it's better than reality
like what dreams may come....
we fear the unknown
rarely do people ever step outside
cause, we're all victims of the box
our comfort zone....
even Jack pops up once in a while

another one for the series
but u captivated me on a level that surprised even me
the way you carried yourself.....
u seemed so graceful and elegant
your face and your smile seemed so familiar to me,
i felt like i have known you for years.
some people told me it could be life reincarnate,
and that in the last life time i gave you a vow
of love next life
funny stuff huh??
not really,
Like I had said before, it could sound sweet
but it definitely depends on who sent it
and it's not you....
oooooo, ouch..
And.....the series continues.....
I won't ask for more than u can give.
if i can't have you heart,
i am content with just having your friendship.
I could be a true and loyal friend.
i will be there for you.
i will try to pick you up when you are down.
i could comfort and console u
as long as you are true to our friendship i will never forsake u
give me your email so aht i can send you my distant regards once in a while
ok, so normally this would be a really nice message to receive.....
but not under these circumstances....er..

Happy Birthday Scorpios
According to Cosmopolitan
Scorpios are………
Strengths: Loyal, passionate, seductive
Weaknesses: Jealous, unforgiving
Erotic appeal: you radiate sizzling vibes without trying
one touch and men get a full body shiver
– (yeah right…). They just
want to be near you
Must do for 2006: you’re naturally private, but bold
Jupiter inspires you to be more open,
from asking for a raise to telling your
guy what you really want for your
birthday…

9 crimes

she had a song posted up as her nick
Whats with the song? I asked
I'm absolutely obsessed with it, she says
Its so depressing.....
and so it is
with a voice so saddening......
So, here it is, 9 crimes - Damien Rice
Leave me out with the waste
This is not what I do
It's the wrong kinda place
to be thinking of you
It's the wrong time
For somebody new
It's a small crime
And I've got no excuse
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
If you don't shoot it
How am I supposed to hold it
Is that alright?
Give my gun away when it's loaded
Is that alright?
Is that alright with you?
Leave me out with the waste
This is not what i do
It's the wrong kinda place
To be cheating on you
It's the wrong time
but she's pulling me through
It's a small crime
And I've got no excuse
Is that alright?
Give my fun away when it's loaded
Is that alright?
If you don't shoot it
how am I supposed to hold it
Is that alright?
Is that alright with you?
Is that alright?
Is that alright?
Is that alright with you?
Is that alright?
Is that alright?
Is that alright with you?
No.....

The truth about diamonds
I was sitting on my living room floor, cleaning out my tote
searched for my cell phone
found a little surprise along with it.
At the bottom of my cell phone compartment, laid a solitaire ring....
Hmm.......is that what I think it is???
Picked it up, Oh shit....a ring
Not mine, then whose?
Looked again to see if perhaps there's a ....note???
No note.
Ok, so can't be some secret admirers leaving a ring in my bag....or psycho's
How on earth did a ring get into my bag??
I had the bag with me the whole time I was out
left it beside my seat, next to a wall in class,
there was not possible time that something could have fallen
without me knowing.
Anyways, curiousity sets in,
issit real?? hmmm......;)
Searched on the internet about ways to identify a real diamond,
here what I got:
1. The old “If it will scratch glass it has to be a diamond.” Well, it is true that diamonds do scratch glass but so do a lot of the other fakes on the market. To boot, it’s possible to injure your rock even if it’s real during your hardness test.
2. The transparency test. If you flip the diamond in question upside down and place it over some newsprint and can clearly read through the stone, it’s not a diamond. (The problem with this test is some diamonds are cut shallow and can be read through.)
3. The fog test. This test I like a lot. Put the rock in front of your mouth and fog it like you would try to fog a mirror. If it stays fogged for 2-4 seconds, it’s a fake. A real diamond disperses the heat instantaneously so by the time you look at it, it has already cleared up. (A down fall to this test is oil and dirt on the stone can effect its reliability and the test is not accurate at all on doublets where the top of the stone is diamond and the bottom is cubic zirconia epoxied together.)
4. The weight test. The most popular of diamond simulants (fake) is a cubic zirconia. C.Z.’s weigh approximately 55% more than diamonds for the same shape and dimension. So if you have a carat or gram scale at your disposal you can see if the imposter tips the scales too much.
5. The U.V. test. A high percentage of diamonds fluorescence blue when put under an ultra violet light (black light). Since 99% of all fakes don’t, a positive identification of medium to strong blue would indicate a diamond. The bad news is if this method proves you have a diamond, it also proves your diamond is worth less. Diamonds with blue fluorescence are as much as 20% less valuable. Remember, lack of blue fluorescence doesn’t mean it’s a fake; it could just be a better quality diamond.
6. Under the loop test. If you own some sort of magnifying lens, there are some things you can look for on the stone that might give away its identity:
A. Look at the rock from the top and see how well the facets (cuts on top of the diamond) are joined. They should be sharp not rolled.
B. Look at the girdle and see if it is faceted or frosty (a clear sign it’s a diamond) or waxy and slick (an indication it’s a fake).
C. While you’re looking at your stone under magnification, look into your stone to see if you detect any flaws (carbon, pinpoints, small cracks). These are typically clear indications it’s the real thing since it’s very hard to put inclusions in a fake.
D. After examining the stone, focus in on the stamps inside the setting. A stamp of "10K, 14K, 18K, 585, 750, 900, 950, PT, Plat" indicates the setting is real gold or platinum which gives a better chance that the stone in it is real as well. While you’re looking at the interior of the ring, also look for any "C.Z." stamps that would indicate the center stone is not a diamond.
Well, how did the test turn out??
It fogged. Damned piece of glass!
anyhow, learnt something new
possibly useful
you win some, you lose some.....
can't really expect diamonds to fall from the sky, can you?

The Legend of Mid-Autumn Festival
From then on, people could live in peace and happiness. Hou Yi became famous and honorable for what he did. He married a beautiful girl, whose name is Chang Er. Hou Yi was a good husband. He loved his wife very much. He wanted to live with his wife forever. So, he hoped to find the herb of immortality.
One day, Hou Yi went to visit the Western Goddess. He told her what he wanted. The Western Goddess was very touched by Hou Yi. She decided to give him the herb of immortality. However, the herb was only good to make one person immortal. Hou Yi never wanted to leave his wife. So he could not decide who should take the herb, his wife or himself. Either way, one of them would have to leave the other one behind.
After a while, she felt her body become lighter and lighter and start to float up higher and higher all the way to the sky. She could not stop herself, because she did not want to leave her husband. However, Chang Er landed on the moon and became an immortal godness.
Hou Yi could not believe what had happened; his wife had left him. Late at night, he looked into the sky and saw that the moon was extremely bright. There was a shadow on the moon, which looked like his beloved wife, Chang Er. This made him miss his wife even more.
According to the legend, Chang Er transformed herself into brilliant moonlight. Today, couples would declare their love for each other under the full moon of this mid-autumn day. Separated lovers make wishes for their reunion.

SMS Weirdo.....the series
Me: Who is this??
Wierdo: Don't know if you still remember after all these years, but this is **. I took a class with you in UH. Anyways, I just wanted to know how you have been these past 4 years. Still remember U.
Me: Oh, hi. How are u? I'm good, doing my MBA now.
Weirdo: Glad u are well. Other than the fast that I really miss someone day and night, i'm doing fine. I am going to florida this november to pursue the abundance of career opportunities in the mainland. Which particular area are you getting a masters in? Nutrient? (it's nutrition, and didn't I already say MBA???)
Me: Masters in Business Administration. No worried about the hurricanes?
Wierdo: I'm not afraid of a couple of hurricanes. Life is full of risks and uncertainties anyway. Besides, if i want to become a somebody and to make my mark in this world I must be ready to take a chance and have the courage to meet the challenges of life head on. (er.... ok. Sounds normal still and full of enthusiasm for life?)
Me: Ok, sound good. Good luck ! You got your degree in business?
Weirdo: Yes, I got my degree in business. My specialization is in investment. As you can see there are more oppotunities in the mainland than hawaii. I will not have a good future if I stay here. What about you? Where will you go after you get your degree? You are not going back to Malaysia are you?
Me: I don't know yet. We'll have to see after I graduate
Wierdo: No matter what you decide, I am sure you will do well. I see strength in you. In my life I have the privilege of knowing two women who possess a strength i rarely observe in other women. One was my former high school teacher, who i held at the highest respect. The other is you shu ling( NOT HOW U SPELL MY NAME, and to think that you said you see strength). That was why I was attracted to you (hmmm...)
Me: Ok, thanks! (what else was I supposed to say). What do you currently do?
Wierdo: There are certain things i have to do to prepare for the trip in november, but i can do it later. I can be free now. What do you have in mind? (thats not what i meant. I said, what do you currently do? not what are you doing currently....)
Me: Sorry, think you misunderstood. I meant what are you working as currently?
Weirdo: Oh, i see! No, I'm not working because I am not planning to stay here in hawaii (yes, i got that part already. doesn't mean you can't work?? for the time being...). I am not satisfy working as a financial planner or advisor which is, perhaps, the best job I can find here. I know that if i work, I will be tie down and there will be less of a chance to go to the mainland ( really??). But I trade stocks part time. Been doing for 4 years now. Haven't had much success but the experience is invaluable. I have confidence I will be successful in florida (man, the confidence is choking).
The next day.....
Me: Dun worry about it...
Weirdo: Great! There are still so many things we don't know about each other (seriously, not too curious about you). So many things I want to know bout you such as your favorite food, flower and music (getting weird here). I want to know what makes you smile and what makes you happy. I want to know about your life dreams and ambitions (weirder still). To sum it up, i am interested in knowing anything about u. (OK, getting seriously weird here)
Never had I received such long smses in my life....like, seriously
I know I had prompted questions that would in return ask for more smses.
But did I really sound that interested? or curious? seriously!

it's just a number
Just like any other year, a number.
Except maybe from now on, every year is just 25, over and over....
It's just the beginning.

Quest for cookie recipes!!
There's never really the perfect recipe
Everything you try will never turn out like the ones you buy at a store
Ingredient differences? probably
Oven difference? Maybe
Not like I have a professional convection oven at home
No secret recipe from mom, she doesn't bake
Thats ok, now I shall search the net, cookbooks, peoples personal recipe collections, etc...

Song for all
Did I dissapoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty, or let the judges frown?
Cause I'd saw the end before we'd begun
Yes I saw you were blinded, I knew I had won
So I took what's mine by eternal right
Took your soul out into the night
It may be over but it won't stop here
I'm here for you if you'd only care
You touched my heart you touched my soul
You changed my life and all my goals
And love is blind and that I knew when
My heart was blinded by you
I've kissed your lips and help your head
Shared your dreams and shared your bed
i know you well, I know your smell
I've been addicted to you
Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me
I am a dreamer but when I wake
You can't break my spirit, it's my dreams you take
And as you move on, remember me
Remember us and all we used to be
I've seen you cry, I've seen you smile
I've watched you sleeping for a while
I'd be the father of your child
I'd spend my lifetime with you
I've known your fears and you know mine
We've had our doubts but now were fine
And I love you, I swear that's true
I cannot live without you
Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me
And I still hold you hand in mine
In mine when I'm asleep
And I will bear my soul in time
When I'm kneeling at your feet
Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me
I'm so hollow baby, I'm so hollow
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so hollow.
Don't cry dear
I know sometimes it may seem too much to bear
and probably will be the only thing that clouds your mind for months to come
I know sometimes you may feel like you just want to go running
back into the embrace and familiarity that you've had
But,
Be strong babe
Change is scary
Change may be good
Everything happens for a reason, I think
It will all turn out fine in the end
Give it time,
History was built, and it will take time to put it behind you
For it will only make you stronger
Make you strive for what you want
Clear your mind....
Wish I could be there for you
modern equipments make us seem closer
So I am there in my way
Be strong!!

TY: I'm getting married!
Everyone in unison: hahahahaha...........dun play play la. u serious ar?? hahahahaha!!!
TY: I'm serious!! On the 19th at the spitting caves.. (how can it not be serious when there is a date set already?)
Everyone: silence......blur....really ar..........(some fell into their chairs, mostly drawing a blank look)
Me: So, btw, how did you propose???
TY: Not yet....er...
Let's see here shall we,
there's going to be a wedding, but no proposal, yet. how?? why?
Congrats TY and Jes!!! Looking forward to the sunset wedding on the 19th.
With or without a proposal

Cousin JJ and bf are visiting from Chicago....
Bought the wrong gifts....I specifically asked for hand soap,

the era of SARS in America is far and forgotten, for now......
That's OK.....
Oh yeah, finals,
Accouting should not be a problem,
BLaw, is done with and shall officially be over tomorrow night....
Papers are completed and assignments done.
Sounds like I'm pretty much set...so
here's to a great week!

Guess she's right
I think,
I would have to say yes.
Yes Ma'am.
To the point she pees and poops as soon as i "catch" her.
It is as if she is a bag of waste waiting for me to pick her up
and then releases......
That's ok. She'll just have to take another shower!

Empty handed
packing lunch and water....preparing for another hike
for mountain apples.
Jambu like fruits, that apparently some say are not jambu
but according to internet sources, are jambu.
In fact, they are a native of Malaysia..!!!
Anyways, began our hour long drive to the north shore around 10am so that we will arrive at 11.
Man, traffic sucked,
all these tourist trying to get around driving at 15 mph trying to find their destination on a one lane freeway which has a speed limit of 45 Mph. If I had a shot gun, I would have blown that damn blue Dodge off the road and save many people a lot of time and not to mention
GAS.
Arrived at our assigned parking area, we started walking up the freeway, heading to our path.
Beginning with a climb we huff anf puff our way to the top of the hill.
Then, we head down into a gulch and along the riverside we walk
criss-crossing occasionally (about 10 times)
eaten alive by mosquitos in search of the mysterious
Mountain Apples.....
The apparently not jambu, jambu..
Further and further into the jungle we go and still no sight of the elusive fruit.
None.....no flowers in sigh, no red fruit....
hmmm.............
Then, we see flowers, still not blooming.....dammit.
Came too early in the season.
no fruit, therefore we are returning home,
climbing up the gulch, empty handed.
All this walking for nothing.
We were here a whole month early, they don' t start to fruit until August!!!
We'll be back jambu....yes we will....
Here's what they are supposed to look like.
The Fruit
The treesLet's hope we have more luck in late august....
There goes the challenge
let's see.......
who's still in it???
me?? err....
aud?? hm....
bro??? eeee....
everyone else?? no comment
oh well, all the huffing and puffing (not much really)
have gone down the drain with
tiramisu, pretzels and brownies, and cookies, etc.
Where does one find motivation to work out and stick to it???
God only knows.
Monetary incentives
Job
Peer pressure?oh, and of course
a Personal trainer
No wonder celebs get it done easily,
you pay a personal trainer so that
they train you to get the body you want
to get the job you want to land
which pays the amount you would like
so that you can pay the personal trainer
it all goes around..........

Song of the moment: Dying
Without you in my head again
I’m dying, dying to forget about you
That you ever lived
There’s a shade come over this heart that’s coping
With laying down to rest
I’m dying to live without you again
I’m dying, dying to find a distraction,
Get you away from me
I’m dying, dying to reach a conclusion,
So that the world can see
It’s the same old of story of love and glory that broke before it bent
I’m dying to live without you again
The first time you left I said goodbye
Now there’s not a prayer that can survive
Dying, dying to die just to come back,
So we can meet again
Dying, dying to say what I always,
Always should have said
It’s a strange emotion this but there’s still hope in this
As long as there’s a breath
I’m dying and I can’t live without you again
It’s a strange emotion this but there’s still hope in this
As long as there’s a breath
I’m dying and I can’t live without you
I’m dying and I can’t live without you again

The nosy neighbor
meow....MEOW....MEOW...........
calling, calling, hoping that a tomcat would hear her and come to ber rescue
NOT GONNA HAPPEN KITTY,
you're 8 floors up!!!
Then came the neighbor
NEIGHBOR:
Is your cat calling?
MOI:
err.....yes
NEIGHBOR:
Is she alright? she sounds unhappy....(implying that she's gonna call the SPCA)
MOI:
She's fine. she's just in heat....(haven't you ever heard of cats in heat before??? where do you come from???)
NEIGHBOR:
Are you sure? why don't you get her spayed?
MOI:
I've made an appointment but the doctors do not have an appointment until later in the month ( as far as i'm concerned, she can legally make as much noise as she wants, until 10pm)
NEIGHBOR:
Well, my doctor will fix her tomorrow......who do you go to?
MOI:
Who do YOU go to?
NEIGHBOR:
The cat clinic
MOI:
That's who I called....(duh!!)
NEIGHBOR:
Well,.......
MOI:
Thanks for your concern, we're taking good care of the cats...Dun worry
( so shut up and live with it for now....)
ciao....
Well, well paralegal neighbor, think you know the law, you're not the only one.
and you're not alone when it comes to going nuts
imagine,
i have to live with them.....
and you know what else
the nosy neighbor even wrote a letter to the management
asking if
we were TORTURING the cats???
The orange cat......
There are 2 cats in this household,
one orange

one black and white

one is absolute evil
and the latter is the sweet heart
How do you retrain a cat?
How do you even train a cat to begin with?
almost every morning I get up to a surprise on my bathroom floor mat.
and this morning, there was another surprise on the carpet in the living room
not only did she pee on the mat
she THREW UP on the carpet.
what kinda cat is this?
why is she doing this to me
of course, cat mama does not clean up after the kitties
(cause she peed on MY bathroom mat)
so cat auntie has to do the work.
I feel like a slave to the cats, the fishies and plants
all I do is clean up after them
feed them
bathe them
water them
I should just be a witch,
feel like throwing them over the balcony
then i won't have to deal with them anymore
accept now, i'll have the animal cops on my arse....
